Subject: Support for Nijmegen 1944 research needed This letter has been received at Association Headquarters and has been passed to me for inclusion on the Association web site. If you can help Peter Vrolijk with his research then his email address is shown at the end of the letter. Dear Sir, I do hope you can help me in some way. My name is Peter Vrolijk, age 47 and I am living in The Netherlands. I have been doing research about operation Market Garden (September 1944) for about 30 years. Some time go I started an almost forgotten part of Operation Market-Garden: the capture of the bridges at Nijmegen by the 1st and 2nd Battalion The Grenadier Guards and elements of the US 82 Airborne Division. Although I realize that their number is diminishing I do hope you can bring me in contact with veterans of the 1st and 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards who fought at Nijmegen, or can help me with placing an appeal on your webpage, or can pass this mail through. Any information about the actions of 1st and 2nd Grenadier Guards (personal accounts, parts of books, photographs, information about missing or men killed in action) will be most welcome. I really hope to hear from you and may I thank you in advance for any information that you can give me in this matter, Yours sincerely, Peter Vrolijk peter.vrolijk@planet.nl |

| Junior Guardsman's Company - Pirbright Sept 1958 | We have a person here who is
trying to find a photograph of his Grandfather who was in the
Irish Guards but who joined through the Junior Guardsman.s Company
in September of 1958. The Grandfather was 23495444 John Alan
Patterson. It is thought that at about this time it was usual
for squads/platoons to have a photograph taken and it may well
be that these squads/platoons consisted of those destined for
all the Regiments of the Household Division (Brigade as it then
was) If anyone can help with a photograph or even if it can be
confirmed that mixed Regiment photographs were taken then please
email Conor Breslin at saintconor@ggoglemail.com
